Study on Managing Water Shortages in Urban Areas in China

CPG Consultants, together with International Enterprise Singapore Board (IE)/ Asian Development Bank (ADB), was appointed to prepare a framework for cities in China to assist with managing water shortages.


The study reviews the current system of water supply and management in two case study cities - Shenzhen and Kunming. It includes water resource policy and planning, water supply and demand management, water tariff structure and institutional arrangement for water management. It also reviews wastewater reuse, rainwater recycling, desalination practices and looks at international best practices and their application to cities in China.
