National University Health System/ National University Singapore Campus Facilities Master Plan
The team comprising CPG Consultants, ZGF Architects, Lekker Design and Jacobs Consultancy is commissioned to develop a master plan for the National University Hospital (NUH), Faculty of Science (FoS), School of Medicine (SoM), Faculty of Dentistry (FoD), and the Translational Clinical Research building (TCR) to meet the objective of developing a seamlessly integrated blueprint for the future.

Urban Planning and Design
The master plan for the existing SoM, FoS and FoD promotes closer interaction and collaboration between staff and students. The fundamental principle of the campus master plan is to combine SoM, FoD and FoS with NUH at the master plan level to realise the formation of an Academic Medical Centre (AMC) that synergised clinics, translational research, teaching and multi-disciplinary basic sciences. The master plan report aims to summarise the guiding principles, propose the required initial build-up based on projected needs, and present the final campus option with Phase 1 taken to the building massing stage.

The master plan for NUH and FoD retained the existing main hospital building while providing for a medium-term expansion policy. Vehicular and pedestrian routes are optimised, with car parking facilities increased significantly. An AMC is created to promote excellence in health services, research and education while additional land plots were earmarked for future deve

Green Design
The overall master plan includes the Green Mark District Sustainability Guidelines, airflow study recommendations and landscape guidelines to ensure that every aspect of campus development adhered to the stated objective.

Transportation Engineering
A traffic impact assessment is conducted for NUHS and FoS. The traffic analysis shows that the planned development of NUHS and FoS can be accommodated by the road network and their junctions in the vicinity of the study area. Various improvements are proposed at several junctions and along several roads to improve their traffic capacities to meet the projected traffic growth in the assessment years of 2015 and 2020.

Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Engineering (M&E)
The master plan elaborates on possible future phases after 2015, provides plot-specific guidelines and phased mechanical and electrical (M&E) infrastructure development to ensure that future buildings can be developed in viable parcels, and provides guidelines to create centralised M&E plant systems, service road network and pedestrian/bicycle connectivity.
