Tianjin Nangang Qingfang New Town Master Plan and Urban Design
Tianjin Nangang Qingfang New Town is located to the east of Tianjin City, in Tianjin Binhai New District. The 2200km2 Tianjin Binhai New District is the centre for future growth in Tianjin Municipality, where the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco City is located.

At 40km2, the master plan strategy is to divide the site into three distinct zones: Downtown, Midtown and Uptown, each the size of one of Singapore's HDB new towns. A careful system of parks and open spaces is then weaved in to further differentiate the three zones. The master plan also capitalises on the presence of the waterfront and existing water bodies within the site. Through careful composition and handling of the built and natural environment, a sustainable new township development with extensive public transport networks and attractive pedestrian connections is created. Downtown is a mid-high density central retail core with an entertainment-lifestyle commercial component. Midtown is a neighbourhood-centric development with a community lifestyle, while Uptown is a village, like a low-density town centre, catering more to resort and retirement communities.
