The 6-storey building occupies the former site of CEE workshops, with part of it extending towards the slope below the main academic complex.
M&E plant rooms and car park is inconspicuously located at mid length of the block. Labs, which require heavy equipment are located on the ground floor for logistical, and vibration considerations.
The interior layout adopts double-loaded internal corridors, with skylights over the North-South running corridors for an efficient and brighter interior environment. The building exterior employs glazed elements with horizontal sun shading devices; the design aims to achieving ‘lightness’ in an enclosed site within a highly built-up area.
