CPG Consultants has successfully secured the Design & Build Tender supporting Hock Lian Seng Infrastructure Pte Ltd for the Aviation Park MRT Station (Singapore) design and construction. The contract for the design and construction of Aviation Park MRT Station and associated tunnels (Contract CR103) was awarded to Hock Lian Seng Infrastructure Pte Ltd at S$320 million by the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Aviation Park MRT Station is next to Changi Coast Road and Aviation Park Road and will be part of The Cross Island Line (CRL). The CRL is Singapore’s eighth MRT line and will support future infrastructure developments in the Changi area. The CRL will have the highest number of interchange stations when operational, with almost half the line stations linked to existing rail stations.

Designed to connect to future lines, Aviation Park MRT Station is proposed to be about 495m long and 45m wide. Located on the fringes of the airport boundary, it will serve existing and future developments in the eastern, western, and north-eastern corridors and facilitate the connection of major hubs such as Jurong Lake District, Punggol Digital District, and Changi Region.

The site is particularly complex and poses construction challenges due to several factors. First, the station will be built on reclaimed land made of thick layers of underlying marine clay. Secondly, the airport is close, and construction work must avoid disrupting aviation operations or damaging airport infrastructure. These challenges will require deeper excavation works and earth-stabilising structures to be put in place.

To effectively overcome these construction challenges, CPG’s multidisciplinary team will be providing a range of consultancy services to Hock Lian Seng Infrastructure Pte Ltd. These include Architectural Design, Civil & Structural Engineering, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, Greenmark Certification, Landscape Design, Rail Alignment, Traffic Engineering, Pedestrian Flow modelling, Design for Safety, and Erosion Control Design amongst others.

Construction works for the Aviation Park MRT Station has begun since the first quarter of 2022. Passenger service is expected to commence in 2030, offering a significant reduction in travelling time, with travelling time from Ang Mo Kio to Aviation Park in approximately 35 minutes.
