The Media 21 blueprint envisions Singapore as a Global Media City where media services and projects are created, developed, traded and distributed to the international market. Singapore plans to become Asia's leading media marketplace and financing hub, producing high quality content and digital media.
The Mediapolis master plan concept is inspired by the game of chess where the road grids and land parcellation resemble a chess board. The playful buildings are similar to chess pieces that vary in shape, height and program and can be flexible enough to be ‘played’ in response to ever changing media-ecosystem requirements while retaining a sense of overall coherence. Overlaid onto this ‘game’ concept of media-building typologies is a vibrant activity street network that is inter-connected through a common loop.
The project was awarded the status of Green Mark District. Central to this award is the adoption of stormwater management for the entire 19 hectares.
